K5 playgroup 2022/23
K5’s playgroup welcomes children between the ages of 2.5 and kindergarten and places a special emphasis on early language development in High German.
In our playgroup, children can improve their German and social skills, thus ensuring a self-confident, successful start into kindergarten.
Childcare: K5 playgroup
Time commitment: 1 year, 6 hours per week
It is possible to register your child at any time if there is a free place available.
Playgroup times: Wednesday and Friday, 2.00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. K5's playgroup closes during Basel-Stadt’s school holidays.
Group size: 8-12 children per group
Fees:
CHF 3480.– per year
We also accept children who are required by canton Basel-Stadt to attend a playgroup in order to learn German (Obligatorium BS). Fees for these children are covered by the Department of Education (only for families who live in Basel-Stadt).
For registration or information about the playgroup please contact us by telephone. We also offer various trial appointments so you and your child can get to know us. The trial appointments take place outside the playgroup times and have to be arranged by telephone.

Why is K5's playgroup right for your child?

We focus on language development

In canton Basel-Stadt children are required by law to learn German before entering kindergarten (Schulgesetz § 56a and § 91a). K5’s playgroup fulfils all requirements for accepting children affected by this law. In addition, K5's playgroup meets the Department of Education’s quality standards for playgroups with language development.

Our playgroup leaders are:
> Professional: K5 employs trained childcare professionals (a specialist in early language development in German and qualified playgroup leaders). Our childcare staff are caring as well as competent.
> Well-qualified: our childcare staff regularly attend training events.
A playgroup fee reduction is possible for residents of the canton Basel-Staft and will be reviewed at the time of registration. This reduction is based on a family’s eligibility for a health insurance premium fee reduction. Verification must be provided when registering a child for the playgroup.
The bill includes the annual playgroup fee. Payment in instalments is possible. Die Rechnung erfolgt für das ganze Jahr. Ratenzahlung ist möglich.
Withdrawal from the playgroup usually takes place automatically at the end of the playgroup year. An earlier withdrawal must be done in writing and comply with a three-month withdrawal notice. In case of a withdrawal with a three-month notice period before the beginning of the playgroup, a CHF 75.– fee will be charged.
Due to the current corona pandemic, the K5 Basler Kurszentrum may be obliged to implement protective measures (e.g. keeping your distance). In this context, K5 Basler Kurszentrum, is entitled to exclude children, in whole or in part, from the after-school care center if official instructions are thereby implemented.
