Childcare with a K5 course
We offer childcare with a special focus on language development in High German for children between 6 months and 5 years of age.
While you learn German at K5, our professionally qualified childcare team takes good care of your child in K5's day care centre. Our top priority is your child’s well-being. We encourage children to interact with each other, and we play, sing, draw and make crafts with them. We are specialised in fostering young children’s language competency and take your child’s needs and developmental stage into consideration, drawing on our many years of experience and the latest educational developments.
Opening times: Monday to Friday, 8.00 a.m.–12.00 p.m. and 1.00–5.00 p.m. (as needed)
Opening times correspond to course times.
Fees are specified on the course descriptions. Possible fee reductions are based on your income and canton of residence.
Please REGISTER YOUR CHILD for childcare when you register for your course!
The childcare is not always in the same building as the course, but only a maximum of a few minutes walk away.
Gundeldingerstrasse 161 or Solothurnerstrasse 68 (Winkel 2).
Specifics: We are taking safeguards related to the corona pandemic. Please note the relevant additions to our general terms and conditions and the FAQ.
Why is K5's childcare programme right for your child?
> High German is spoken at K5's day care centre.
> We organise children into several mixed-age groups.
> Each group has its own caregiver.
> A group leader works alone with a maximum of four children, two or three caregivers and an assistant/intern work together with a group of five to nine children, and three caregivers are always responsible for a group of ten children or more.
> We encourage children to interact with each other.
> We encourage free play and we sing, paint and make crafts with the children.
> We introduce specific themes to the children using rhythmic activities that involve singing, speaking and movement.
The possibility of a childcare fee reduction will be reviewed at the time of registration. A fee reduction is based on a family’s income, which must be shown in writing when registering for a course. Residents of Basel-Stadt must provide verification that they receive a health insurance premium fee reduction; residents of Baselland must provide a salary statement.
The fees can be paid in instalments and must be paid in full by the end of the day care period booked.
Childcare registration may be cancelled at no cost up until two weeks before the course begins. As of the third course week, the full course fees will be billed.
Due to the current corona pandemic, K5 Basler Kurszentrum is obliged to implement protective measures. In this context, K5 Basler Kurszentrum, is entitled to exclude children, in whole or in part, from the after-school care center if official instructions are thereby implemented.
